Re: [IAC#RG] PUBLIC NOTICE: Fake "India Against Corruption" 'volunteers'

ROFL .... LOL .... You just said Anna was never part of IAC and IAC doesn't demands or supports any demand of any anti-corruption law.

What happened to your earlier story, where Sarabjit said that Anna is now no more part of IAC.

And that story were Sarabjit said that Arvind Kejriwal took IAC "brand name" for the movement and was given the "brand name" because the demand was a noble cause and IAC stood for it.

Dear Naishadh

As we agree, a "right wing Hindu nationalist patriotic" ("RHNP) is a mess of knotty contradictions, which requires tremendous self discipline, intellectualism, wise seniors and study to manage.

I cannot agree with you that Mr NaMo has managed to achieve that position. As I observe his "half baked" version of RHNP usually has 2 out of the 4 ingredients at any point of time (and the easiest ones - ie lowest common denominator).

Let us assume for the moment that that BJP actually projects NaMO as their PM candidate, it will quickly isolate them and cause the other votebanks to run to the Congress or a Third front (it may actually also be the tonic to revive the Left)

To get around this the BJP/NaMo combination shall have to make some BOLD moves as follows:-

1) Identify clearly the vote banks (ie. committed groups of non-BJP people who vote together) and their leaders, whose votes / support are crucial

2) Send a very strong signal to these vote banks that they will be incorporated in an NDA Govt as empowered partners.

For instance, NaMo has always denied tickets to India's 13% Muslims, now for the Centre 2014 the BJP should give 25% of its tickets (ie. gross over-representation) to Muslims. A similar thing can be done for Dalits. The karyakartas must be instructed to swallow this for the sake of reaching power and work with double their usual vigour.  Only then can the BJP emerge out of this perception that they are a Bania-Brahmin Hindu party. Newer caste dynamics like Jats will have to be arranged. BJP is not at all strong in South and East India, where its Hinduism works against it.

Getting people like Ramdev to arrange this is not working. Ramdev first went to Deoband as part of Congress's similar strategy. Now that he is rebuffed by them and under pressure from Congress, Ramdev is associating with the Shia segments to pull them in for the BJP. I really wonder how the BJP's position on Kashmir will be modified to accommodate such new allies :-)

The Congress is in an easy position, they sit back  while the BJP hardliners dig their own grave. All the Congress has to do is dangle money / temptation like an experienced old-whore to the vote banks (who know that the Congress will do anything to let them keep making money so long as Sonia can stay in No. 10 Janpath)

Dear Sarabjit,

As usual, you made very savvy observations with level-headed practical assessment of localised politics. However, state needs viable arrangement with stability of Govt. for a reasonable term.

Hindu, right-winger, patriotic, nationalist is a knotty combination; which a very large portion of voters, though they may find transient appeal in the concept, cannot truly comprehend.

NaMo seems to offer near-about conviction to above stated position. Any other person or parties don't. In the times of coalition, stability is a matter of dynamic arrangement where cheesy values are the first political sacrifice. Morarji Desai Govt. & 1st term of ABV are the examples. Coalition has its own 'mulayam' mechanism exploited by likes of  3Ms political leaders.

Its time to focus on the issue - If not NaMo then who else. If its NaMo, what to look for and where to focus.

Secondly, let me clarify that from what I observe Mr. Narendra Modi is some sort of half-baked Hindu who doesn't seem to understand/follow ABC of Hinduism let alone the XYZ.

As I said there is a very simple test for who is a TRUE Hindu and who is not which can be answered in 2 and only 2 words..

a) Are you a Hindu ? Yes or No.
b) What is the name of your God ? _____

Thirdly about the BJP's governance. BJP is equally a corrupt party as the Congress. The series of MINING scams in BJP ruled states is complete and unimpeachable evidence of it. Karnataka, Goa, Gujarat you name it. I hate to drag the fair name of Mr. Bangaru Lakshman into this discussion or even Mr. Pramod Mahajan (who I got removed from the Cabinet for his extreme corruption)

Fourthly, about NaMo personally. Running Gujarat is very different from running rest of India. His style of working may not translate very well outside his own Gujarat and outside die-hard BJP loyalists. In any case lets see assembly results of Karnataka, Rajasthan, Delhi, MP etc. first

Fifthly, the analysis of Gujarat assembly results show that's NaMo's support base is shifting and is also 'spiky". BJP in Gujarat is also packed with criminals

BJP Should Project Modi in LS Elections: Ramdev
Jaipur | Mar 31, 2013

BJP should project Gujarat Chief Minister Narendra Modi as its leader in the next Lok Sabha elections and change its priorities if it wants to return to power, Yoga guru Baba Ramdev said today.

He said that Congress can not return to power due to its anti-people policies but BJP can do it provided it changed its priorities.

"There is some possibility and space for BJP if it changes priorities and thinks about projecting Narendra Modi in next Lok Sabha elections," Ramdev said at a press conference here.

"Modi emerged as a robust leader who has become icon of development and courage and has zero tolerance for corruption but the final decision for his projection is to be taken by the BJP and Sangh," he said.

He said the country today is facing a leadership crisis and people are looking at individuals instead of political parties to bring about a positive change in politics.

"We believe that this will take place and the upcoming Lok Sabha election will be decisive in this direction," he said.

He alleged that the government could not take the issues of corruption and black money to a logical conclusion and that Congress has has no chance of forming the next government at the centre as it has betrayed the people.

"Congress has lost confidence among masses. So many scams worth crores of rupees have come to light and people will not vote for the party," he said.

He accused the Congress of misusing the CBI against its political rivals. "What SP Chief Mulayam Singh Yadav said against Congress and CBI is true," he said.

When asked about the possibility of coming together of all like-minded individuals like Anna Hazare, he said building up social and political pressure was necessary to bring a change in system.

"Anna is a good person but he wants to stay away from politics. Building up political pressure along with social pressure is necessary to change the system. Laws are made and amended in Parliament and not by saints or monks and social activist," he said.

Ramdev, who was in the city to hold meetings with his workers, said he was on a mission to play a big role in Lok Sabha election though he himself will not contest election.

"There should be our, at least, 300 members in parliament so that we can play decisive role and I am working in this direction," he said.
Replying to a question about forming a political party, Ramdev said he was not in a position to comment on it but something conclusive will be announced in April or May.

He said that there are some good individuals in parties like Biju Janata Dal, Telugu Desam Party and Janata Dal (United).

There was a space in the nation for the third front, he said, adding that the situation will clear in some time.

He said that he will conduct mass meetings in May in Rajasthan.

[IAC#RG] ELECTION COMMISSION SHOULD ACT ON PRESIDENT'S CLARION CALL

To

India Against Corruption

ELECTION COMMISSION SHOULD ACT ON PRESIDENT'S CLARION CALL

President Pranab Mukherji in his Republic Day address to the nation made the statement of far reaching significance that anarchic methods can not be a substitute for good governance. He made another statement of equal significance against the tendency of political parties to extend freebies to get votes and pointing out that government is not a charity body.

Politicians should take note of  the President's above observations which only reflect the views of the large segment of Indian population. With the forthcoming elections in view , it is very important that the election commission should  also take note of the President's views with earnestness and  immediately  ban political parties extending freebies.

Election commission in recent times has not been known to take any strong measures  to  discipline the  political parties and  has rarely gone beyond  extending  some  critical remarks , which no political party seem to take seriously.  Now, that the President  has given a lead, election commission should act to restore the country's faith in its capability and commitment.  Election commission is a constitutional body and it has certain responsibility and inherent powers.  It should have the character to use such powers for the sake of ensuring probity during the elections.

Re: [IAC#RG] DELHIITES DESERVE BETTER

Friends,
i am a 'Gurgaon-ite' where it is said AAP carries much "weight".... may be for good reason, considering the "strangle-hold" of the State capital cum Panchkula, on its Millennium City + the district, as anywhere else in this State.

Delhi's Law Minister apparently follows what the Firanghis used to do, before the British days as well & till the time of our Independence.
The Centre which provides support to AAP, (being mortally afraid of Modi's rise), perhaps, will ignore the antics and verbal transgressions this Law Minister is used to.
He does not realize that our compatriots who serve and earn well, in African countries, could get targeted in those countries. (It partially came to pass in Nigeria on account of the events in Goa State.)

There is a decent way and a method to deal with drug running or prostitution in the areas of the given areas, AAP and its Law Minister have professed and charged that it does (``hand in glove`` with`the local police ) -- then PROVE IT, and deal with such illegalities -- but NOT the way it is being carried out, currently.

Is anyone listeningÉ
Peace...

Dear Friend,
PLEASE UNDERSTAND THAT I AM REPRODUCING THE ARTICLE FOR INFORMATION, AND DO NOT HOLD A POSITION WITH REGARD TO THE AAM AADMI PARTY.

A LOT OF US ARE VERY IMPRESSED WITH ARVIND KEJRIWAL, WHO FIRST FORMED THE DELHI GOVERNMENT WITH JUST AROUND 27 PER CENT OF THE VOTES AND IS NOW AIMING TO QUIT THE CM'S POST TO FIGHT THE LOK SABHA POLLS.

I CAME ACROSS AN ARTICLE IN THE OPEN PAGE OF THE HINDU WHICH I FOUND VERY INTERESTING, AND SO I AM FORWARDING THIS. I WANT TO THANK THE AUTHOR FOR HIS RESEARCH, AND THAT IS WHY I AM COPYING THIS TO HIM.

IT TALKS MAINLY ABOUT KEJRIWAL AND PRASHANT BHUSHAN.

KIRAN BEDI DID NOT JOIN THE AAP AND APPEARED TO BE CLOSE TO ANNA. BUT SHE IS
READY TO BACK NARENDRA MODI. (PERHAPS SHE HAS FORGOTTEN THE ROLE OF DELHI POLICE, OF WHICH SHE WAS A MEMBER, WAY BACK IN 1984.)  BUT I WONDER IF IT IS FAIR FOR A POLICE OFFICER TO JUST QUIT WHEN SHE IS DENIED A PROMOTION, INSTEAD OF FIGHTING A LEGAL BATTLE - OR PERHAPS IT WAS BECAUSE STAR TV OFFERED HER A LUCRATIVE PROGRAMME BECAUSE OF HER KNOWLEDGE OF LAW?

ANYWAY, HERE IS THE ARTICLE:

Understanding Arvind Kejriwal

Strange things without any rational basis can happen in a nation of 128 crore people. Now, Arvind Kejriwal is projected as an "honest and different politician" who fights evil. Only when the electronic media calm down will his real face emerge.

Consider how he got out of government service. While serving as a Joint Commissioner in the Revenue Department (Income Tax) under the Finance Ministry, he went on a sabbatical (paid leave) from November 1, 2000 to October 31, 2002, and went abroad. One condition for such leave is that the employee must serve continuously for at least three years after return, failing which he or she must pay back the salary he drew over two years with penalty.

There is a bond to be executed, with witnesses and guarantors. Mr. Kejriwal re-joined duty on November 1, 2002 but at once went on 18 months' leave without pay: he did not serve continuously. He resigned in February 2006. As he had jumped bond, his resignation was not accepted.

The Income Tax Department sent him a notice in 2007 and again in 2008 asking him to pay up. Mr. Kejriwal, who was by then appearing on TV almost every day, expected the government to budge. He said the government could deduct the dues from his retirement benefits; as he had done no wrong, his dues must be waived. After sending a notice on August 5, the department sent another in September asking him to pay up before October 27, 2011 — failing which he would not be relieved and he would not get his retirement benefits.

Attachment of his property and criminal action could follow. Mr. Kejriwal termed it an attempt to create obstacles to his agitation against corruption. When he did not respond by October 27, the department asked his guarantors to pay. Mr. Kejriwal pleaded his friends should not be disturbed. When it became clear the government would initiate proceedings, he announced on October 30, 2011 that he would borrow from his friends and pay the dues of Rs.9.28 lakh. He wrote to Prime Minister Manmohan Singh on November 3, 2011 enclosing the cheque.

Certain things tend to be forgotten amid the din. An impression has been created that the Aam Aadmi Party enjoys the support of 2.2 crore Delhiites. It got only 29 per cent of the votes. That means 71 per cent of voters rejected it.

The AAP laid 18 conditions to get Congress support, some of them mere administrative actions like removing red beacons from vehicles. He said he had written to the BJP and the Congress on these, and once he got replies he would go to the people and ask them what to do. However, the Congress did not accept the conditions. Yet, the AAP formed the government with Congress support.

It is doubtful whether the schemes announced by AAP can be implemented. The Delhi government has a deficit of Rs.1,725 crore. After announcing a 50 per cent reduction in power tariff, he announced it was only under consideration. He had asked people not to pay power bills. Many did not, and faced power theft cases. If Mr. Kejriwal withdraws the cases that would be a bad precedent; no court will permit that. If he does not, his followers will feel victimised. While he promised 700 litres of water per capita, residents in many areas now beg for at least 20 litres. Only 68 per cent of households have piped water supply.

Mr. Kejriwal is known for his sensational announcements. During a first round of fasting action, he said he would expose corruption by 15 Union Ministers. In December 2013 he said he had proof to show five Ministers had Swiss bank accounts. He said in November 2012 the Central government had a list of 700 Indians who had stashed money in HSBC Bank in Geneva, and demanded that foreign banks give all the names to the government; he asked HSBC Bank's staff members in India to resign.

The most popular of his stunts was restoring power connections severed for non-payment as he felt the tariff was high. As cameramen clicked away, with a pair of cutting pliers he connected the wires on June 27, 2013. Although it was an offence under the Electricity Act, the electricity authorities did not act fearing his TV-based backing. He chose to take law into his hands, sending a message that he did not believe in a democratic way of functioning. This is in tune with his other activities like offering dharna in front of the Prime Minister's house, violating orders under Section 144.

What Mr. Kejriwal has done, has been done by so many other politicians. Prashant Bhushan of the AAP wanted a referendum held in Kashmir to determine people's opinion on the presence of the Army. Mr. Kejriwal said it was Mr. Bhushan's personal opinion but the consent of local citizens must be ascertained. But there is no difference between a referendum and getting people's consent. On January 12, Mr. Bhushan said the police must be withdrawn from Naxalite-hit areas.

Mr. Kejriwal is yet another politician who has resorted to politics as his last refuge. I wonder if Meera Sanyal, V. Balakrishnan and Captain Gopinath have done their due diligence before joining the AAP.
